The Health Information Technology (HIT) program at Central Oregon Community College prepares students for local or national employment opportunities in the medical field, information management and computer technology. Health Information Technology is among the top 10 fastest growing careers in the country. It includes more than 40 work settings and more than 125 job titles. Salaries are continually increasing due to the high demand for HIT professionals.
Insurance, Medical Secretary, Transcription, Electronic Billing, Coding... The future of health technology is at your fingertips.
COCC’s HIT graduates rank as some of the top in the country. Offering one- and two-year degree options, COCC’s HIT program trains students in medical transcription and data management, preparing them for careers in nursing homes, healthcare facilities and medical consulting firms. “Thanks to COCC, I had the confidence to pursue my current position and now, the possibilities are endless”, says graduate Debbie Severy of her experience with COCC’s HIT program.
CAREER PATHWAYS Career pathways is a system developed to help guide students toward specific professional goals by providing a defined list of courses offering expert training. The various courses help lead students to completion certificates and/or degrees that identify the student as being qualified to work in a particular field.
WHO CAN USE CAREER PATHWAYS? Career pathways can be used by students recently graduated from high school OR by adults who have been out of school for quite some time. In either case, career pathway students need to have the desire to help themselves and the desire to explore the possibilities of a new profession.
