COCC EMS incline rescue trainingTHE PROGRAM
The COCC Emergency Medical Services program is geared for both the EMT with a current Oregon EMT Paramedic certification as well as people interested in starting coursework toward an EMS career. Space is limited, the admission process is selective. Selection occurs at the end of spring term. For specific admission requirements and selection process, please contact the COCC Admissions and Records Office. Note: Some students may be required to complete preparatory work before taking advanced courses and certain pre-requisites must be completed prior to applying to the paramedic portion of the program.

COCC works very closely with an Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board which represents area EMS departments, fire departments, hospitals, and clinical sites.

HELPFUL BACKGROUND
Although no pre-requisites are required, candidates are strongly encouraged to have a background in upper level high school or entry level college math and chemistry. Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary for an EMS career. The ability to work with technical information, maintain confidentiality, and endure high stress environments are desirable qualities. If interested in applying to the Emergency Medical Services program, contact Enrollment Services at (541) 383-7500.
